With our post on Copenhagen we got a bit melancholic, and decided to go down memory lane once again. This time London journey. These photos were taken while our three months internship with Paku Sukuda (stylist & art director), precisely on the very first photoshoot together. It took place in fashionable Vauxhall area, in a one-time hostel. Each floor with complicated system of corridors, nooks & crannies reminded something of all-of-the-sudden remote place. Especially big kitchen was quite spectacular. The pre-shoot to-do list included a bit of a research, picking-up clothes so a bit of a tour de London (ladden with bags, we did our part of a muscle-up during those three months, we must say). During the shoot, the biggest fun was hairdrying furs:)
Paku herself is one of the most easy-going people we’ve known. When it comes to picking clothes for photoshoots she’s a dare-devil who acts on her hunches. She may like quirky pieces but she always manage to finally come up with clear vision and create strong silhouttes. One of our fond memory is a giant black heart-shaped bolero, which by the way model wearing it for a shoot described with a lovely ‘sick’ adjective:) On the contrary, photos presented in the post are very glamour and elegant, but they are beauty shoots after all, so the focus is on the face and make-up (by the way, this is a work of Kentaro Kondo, make-up artist, privately Paku’s boyfriend. They often co-work together). Enjoy photos and a bit of a 'behind-the-scenes'!

End of October: we packed our stuff and headed to Łódź for a long-awaited Fashion Week Poland. Approx. 4 hours on a train, it felt like forever-long journey (right, bit of exaggeration here:). Sadly enough we didn’t have much time to flanêur the streets and discover the city. Although we have been in Łódź 4 times now, each time it was express working (FW-related) visit. We took a short glimpse of main street Piotrkowska, Manufaktura, and our family’s flat:) So there’s one image of the city in our heads: mysterious, undiscovered, and, of course fashionable. It’s charm is not striking, rather ghostly, with subdued colors, monumental but destroyed XIX-century tenements & warehouses. Nevertheless, we really grew to like it.

But we digress, back to cut-throat world of big fashion;) Last may we were working backstage at Designer Avenue. We were first timers then so acted a bit like children playing in the fog: we were excited, eager to take action but had no clue what to do so very often ended up trying to look useful rather than actually being useful. We had a really busy schedule, each day we were starting very early in the morning and were working till wee hours (alright it happened once, but still working every day almost till eleven/midnight). The biggest problem was the shoe issue. First, taping soles (one hell of a pile), then - system of tagging. We were putting stickers with name (designer+model) inside shoes, but unfortuantely they were falling off constantly, that was really annoying and confusing. Beautiful scene and cheerful fact: models joining in fast food eating fest. We all have been fed on pizza and famous cookies, which were literally everywhere, so everyone was nibbling. Summing up, a lot of high-pressure moments, but overall very good times. We have a lot of heart-warming memories, mostly of silly situations that now makes us smile (or rather belly laugh) at the very thought of them.

This time round we were assigned to Off out of schedule backstage. Work was more slow-paced, really cheerfully nice, we worked just four days, till 4pm so had enough time to sneak in and see some of Designer Avenue shows & wander leisurely around showrooms. We want to do a bit of a name-dropping now, and present you some of the polish designers we discovered during this FW:
Olga Szynkarczuk - we liked futuristic look, rounded shapes, bright tangerine lipstick with neon green & yellow outfits, oversize visors (especially this black helmet one) and most-talked-about among backstage team: see-through plastic wedge slippers. Her designs are already making big apperance on red carpet. well-done!

Martyna Czerwińska - collection Grace: we fell in love with tops resembling tight body armors, where patchwork and candy colors trigger off nice, fairy-tale feeling. Oh, and elegant old glamour long dressess. Plus, those panty shorts & baby girl clutches, that was one instant love affair.

Alisa Bieniek - Kudos for add-ons: white fox fur headpiece and studded collars that give a surprisingly decisive femme fatal and fetish touch to light-like-a-feather dresses and evening gloves. We agreed that the most mouth-watering look was assymetric two-tone skirt in ice-cream white and rose pink, teamed with a square jacket.
AŁ – the most spectacular: pelican shower curtain skirt, neon dress, black nipple-patch T-shirts, plus cubes on heads. Street bicycles & skateboards show
